What to expect

Group of diverse people smiling and laughing together indoors at a social gathering.

You don't have to believe any of this to belong. You don't have to know why you're here. Whether it was curiosity, exhaustion, suspicion, hope, or something you can't explain, that's enough to walk in with.

Honest Connections

Skip the small talk if you want. People here are willing to be real about where they actually are.

Real People

You won't find polished. You'll find honest. Everybody here is recovering from something. That's kind of the point.

Room to be Human

Sit in the back. Cry. Don't sing. Leave early. There is no right way to be here.

Reasons You Should Not Come

You want to keep score or earn your way in.

We don’t have a system for that. Grace is free—which is precisely what makes it offensive. If you need a framework where effort translates into standing, this will frustrate you quickly.

You need to maintain an image.

People here have mostly stopped performing. If looking fine matters more than being known, the honesty in the room will feel like too much.

Grace levels the room.

It doesn’t flatter anyone. If you need to be ahead of the person next to you to feel secure, this won’t sit well.

You’re hoping God grades on effort.

If your standing with God depends on how hard you try, what you hear here will sound too good to be true—and maybe too good to trust.

Our leaders lead with a limp, not a flex.

No one here is pretending to have arrived. Our pastor isn’t a polished man teaching people how to get polished. He’s a man with dirt under his nails, failure in his story, and grace as his only credential.

You’re sure you don’t need any of this.

That’s allowed. No one will chase you. Most people aren’t ready for that kind of honesty with themselves, and there’s no shame in not being there yet.

Things People wonder

A few honest answers before you have to ask. If yours isn’t here, send it over.

Is this actually in a shopping plaza?

Yes. Maplewood Center, Suite 14—right past Home Depot. Nothing hidden. Easy to find. Easy parking. No production about it.

“A recovery place masquerading as a church” — so is this like AA?

No. It’s a church. We just admit in the open that everybody’s recovering from something—named or unnamed. If you’re human, you’re in recovery.

Will anyone single me out?

No. No spotlight. No standing up. No introductions. You can stay invisible as long as you want.

Do I need to sign up or let anyone know I'm coming?

No. Just show up. Or watch online first if that feels easier. A lot of people start there. Just know—the room doesn’t really translate through a screen.

What happens when it's over?

It ends. You leave whenever you want. No pressure, no lingering trap at the door. People usually stick around because they want to, not because they’re supposed to.
